Nigerian Army repel Boko Haram attack in Yobe

The Nigerian Army said troops of 159 Battalion, have repelled an attack by Boko Haram.

The soldiers were deployed at Kanama, Yunusari Local Government Area of Yobe State.

According to an army spokesperson, Injoka Irabo, the terrorists came on Monday evening in their numbers through the border town of Kanama and began to shoot sporadically. But they were engaged by the vigilant troops.

Displaced residents of Baga, a border community in Borno State recently taken over by the Boko Haram insurgents, said the Nigerian government is lying in the claims that the town has been reclaimed by government troops.

According to multiple civilian sources, all IDPs from Baga, the insurgent are not only flying their flags in the commercial border town but are also controlling the movement of civilians in an out of the town.

Nigerian Army responds to Boko Haram prisoner swap request

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Abayomi Olonishakin, on Monday responded to the prisoners’ swap demand made by Boko Haram in a new video of the abducted Chibok girls.

The terrorist group released the video on Sunday showing some of the over 200 girls abducted in 2014 from their school’s dormitory in Chibok, Borno State in Northeast Nigeria.

Nigerian troops rescue wife and daughter of Shehu of Bama from Boko Haram

The wife and daughter of Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Umar Ibn Kyari El-Kanemi, abducted by Boko Haram about two years ago during the capture of the town yesterday regained their freedom.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. Victor Ezugwu, was said to have brought the queen and her daughter to the Shehu of Bama’s abode in Maiduguri at about 1:30p.m.

Nigerian soldiers missing after Boko Haram ambush in Borno

According to Premium Times, an unknown number of Nigerian soldiers are yet to be accounted for after an ambush by Boko Haram insurgents in a community in Borno State, the army has said.

The army said it was battling to save the lives of 19 other soldiers injured during the clash on Thursday.

The Quick Reaction Force (QRF) of 251 Battalion, 7 Div Garrison on routine checks has arrested a truck loaded with 25 jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and other goods cleverly covered and concealed at Molai military check-point, outskirts of Maiduguri at about 8.00am on Tuesday.

Acting Director Army Public Relations Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman made this known in a press statement on Wednesday.

The Nigerian Army has on Sunday released a total of 249 cleared suspected Boko Haram terrorists and accomplices by the Joint Interrogation as approved by the Chief of Army Staff in Maiduguri.

The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman, in a statement on Monday, said that those cleared and released were 169 males, 46 women and 34 children.

Following reliable information about movement of suspected Boko Haram terrorists, troops of 118 Task Force Battalion, 7 Brigade, laid an ambush for the terrorists on Thursday.

The troops laid the ambush about 3 kilometres away from Goneri town, South West of Kukawa Local Government Area, where they encountered the unsuspecting terrorists in 2 gun trucks and on motorcycles and engaged them.

Nigerian troops repel Boko Haram attack in Kangarwa, Borno

Troops of 119 Task Force Battalion have successfully repelled an attack by the Boko Haram terrorists on Tuesday in Kangarwa, Northern Borno State.

In a press release by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman explained that the attack started at about 6.30pm.

6 Boko Haram members arrested in Lagos

Six suspected members of the Boko Haram sect were weekend apprehended by a Civilian Joint Task Force at different locations in Lagos.

The suspects, who all confessed to be indigenes of Borno State, disclosed that they fled Bama, Baga and Konduga local government council areas of Borno State, following the offensive of military operatives against insurgents in the state.

Nigerian Army intensifies operations to wipe out Boko Haram

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has said that a joint operation to wipe out the remnant of the Boko Haram terrorist group is currently on-going at Nigeria’s borders with Niger Republic, Chad and Cameroon.

The Army Chief said this while speaking at Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, during a visit to the recently established Army Special Forces school in Buni Yadi.

Nigeria Army says six people were killed on Friday when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a mosque in Damboa, northeast Nigeria.

Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman said the attack happened at about 5:15 am (0415 GMT) in the town of Damboa, some 90 kilometres (56 miles) southwest of the Borno state capital, Maiduguri.

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in an operation with personnel of the Civilian- JTF, on Thursday, carried out an operation that led to the arrest of two key Boko Haram’s commanders, an army statement said.

Those arrested are Ibrahim Jagwal, 38, who is an Ameer (commander), and the insurgents’ automobile repairman, Audu Ahmadu, 45.

Boko Haram insurgents have launched an attack on Kuda -Kaya village in Madagali local government of Adamawa state Thursday night killing 24 people and injuring 10 others.

The attack came as one of the most wanted commanders of the Boko Haram insurgent was arrested at in Gombi in the state

Locals from the area told newsmen that the insurgents in their hundreds invaded the village at about 10pm Thursday night and started shooting indiscriminately at anyone on sight.

Over 700 repentant Boko Haram insurgents surrender to Nigerian military

The Director of Defence Information, Rabe Abubakar, has said that more 700 repentant Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East have surrendered to the military.

Mr. Abubakar, a brigadier general, said this when he paid a courtesy call on the managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Bayo Onanuga, in Abuja on Thursday.

According to him, a camp will be opened where the repentant insurgents will be kept “before the government decides on what to do with them”.

The Nigerian Army on Thursday said Boko Haram terrorists now evade drones and aircraft surveillance by hiding in makeshift camps covered with shrubs.

Col. Sani Usman, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, revealed this new tactic in a statement in Maiduguri.

Usman said in the statement that the discovery was made during a clearance operation in the North Eastern area of Kumshe in Borno.

Boko Haram kills 4, abducts 4 women in Kutuva, Borno state

Some suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorist group have killed four persons and abducted four women from Kutuva village in Nigeria’s northeast Borno State.

The terrorists on six motorcycles attacked the village on Tuesday, a statement by a spokesman for the army, Colonel Sani Usman said.

Nigerian military repel Boko Haram attack in Pulka
At least six Boko Haram insurgents were shot dead on Sunday by troops of the Nigeria Army when a gang of Boko Haram insurgents attempted a daring attack on a military formation at Pulka village of Gwoza local government area of Borno State, the military said.

Pulka is one of the villages on the fringes of Sambisa forest that once fell to Boko Haram insurgents.

The 121 Task Force Battalion, 26 Task Force Brigade of the 7 Division Nigeria Army, are located at Pulka.
